Ayurvedic Vegetarian Cooking for Spring: Food Is Medicine
The ancient science of health and wellbeing from India, Ayurveda, has very specific advice on how to negotiate the seasons through the use of food, herbs, spices, and daily activities. In today's class, we will focus on what to eat, and how food plays an integral role in your personal health as well as the health of your family. By making wise choices, based on your individual mind-body constitution (your dosha - we will discuss!), you can create delicious meals, allowing the gut and skin microbiome to flourish. It is said that a healthy microbiome, when fed a seasonally-appropriate, diverse diet, can boost your immune system, aid in diseases (especially IBS and IDB), and improve your mood.
We will make a few simple dishes that you can easily recreate at home. Recipes will be supplied, but bring a notebook to take notes.
